Be Safe over Summer – Drugs Advice

If you are planning a day or night out be sure to look after each other and that you know where everyone is going. Whilst we do not encourage or condone the use of illegal drugs, they can impair your judgement. In recent years, the purity of drugs including cocaine and ecstasy has increased up to 10 times stronger than 10 years ago, so the strength of drugs can vary as can the content.

Summer season in the Outer Hebrides is a busy time for catching up with friends and enjoy the many festivals and events that are held across the islands. Be mindful when you are out, if you intend to drink alcohol that you are aware of the number of units you have.
Be Safe in the Sun – Sun Safety

When the sun is out remember to cover up with sunscreen if you are spending time in the sun and avoid sitting out when the sun is at its hottest. Protect children and young people from sun damage by applying at least factor 30 suncream. If you plan to spend longer periods of time outdoors, it is important that you keep taking fluids, to prevent your body overheating or becoming dehydrated. Avoid drinking alcohol if you are planning on undertaking any water activities as this can increase risk taking behaviour and can become dangerous.
Staying safe during the festive Season

For those who are participating in festive celebrations, it is easy to get swept away with the excitement, especially as everyone goes back to ‘normal’ following the covid 19 restrictions. Lockdown has had an impact on so many areas of life, and it is important that you have some awareness of keeping yourself and others safe.
